Your store, your data
What you actually own on Snap Shop, and how to take your data out whenever you want.
One of the sharpest differences between Snap Shop and a shared platform: you own your store and your data rather than renting them.
What that means exactly
- The domain is in your name from day one. If you leave, you take it with you.
- An independent deployment — your store has its own database, not an account inside a system shared with other merchants.
- A full export of your data whenever you want it: products, orders, customers, inventory.
- No Snap Shop commission on your sales, at any volume. What you pay is the subscription and the one-time setup fee.
Why this is a real difference
On a shared platform your data lives inside a system that is not yours, and its value stays tied to you remaining subscribed. When the data sits in a database belonging to your store, on a domain in your name, you have a genuine choice — which is what keeps the relationship based on the service being worth it rather than on you being locked in.
The domain
We set up the domain and SSL as part of setup. The domain is registered in your name, and the first year is a gift on both plans.
Exporting your data
From the dashboard you can export your catalog and your orders at any time. Exports come out as files that are readable and importable into any other system.
Import works on the same principle: CSV import with a dry run before anything is committed, so you see what will happen before it happens.
Backups
We take a daily backup of your store's data, and your data is exportable at any time from the dashboard.
